Dr. Louann Brizendine is a neuropsychiatrist who was educated at UC Berkeley in neurobiology, graduated from Yale’s School of Medicine and completed her residency at Harvard Medical School. She is also the bestselling author of The Female Brain, and most recently she completed a followup book, entitled The Male Brain.
We all know the stereotypes about men: they don’t engage emotionally, they are more interested in problem solving than connecting on an emotional level and all they think about is sex. Up until the past decade, the research on sex differences have been rather scarce. In fact, sex differences weren’t typically studied at all in the past. But Dr. Louann Brizendine brings us a closer look at today’s science and reveals that differences in the architecture of the male and female mind are from a lifetime of genes and hormones (mainly testosterone) radically altering the brain’s structure.
Whether you are a man in search of understanding yourself, or a woman in search of understanding your partner, this lecture provides interesting insight into the age old question: what are men really thinking and why?
