“The human brain is capable of a full range of behaviors and predisposed to none,” said Stephen Jay Gould. In fact, many famous intellectuals have written similar thoughts to that of Gould’s. In most of these writings, they claim that the human mind is blank slate, and that all its structure forms from socialization, culture, parenting, and so on.
But, Steven Pinker, Professor of Psychology at Harvard University, gives us some reasons to doubt that the human mind is a blank slate. Pinker reveals how parental studies often are false because they do not account for genetics. He also says we will not find actual answers until we can test more adopted siblings.
He also addresses some hot button issues consistently blamed on the raising of children, which may leave you shocked.
