In today’s society, a growing number of people refuse to purchase from companies that don’t have a positive social impact on the world. And this new business environment is awakening companies eyes’ to new opportunities around the world.

Take Proctor & Gamble, for example. Their company was doing poorly in the Brazilian market. When they looked for how to improve their business, they found needs of lower income families consumers that were not being met, because necessary products were to too far out of reach of their income. So they created new and innovative ways to create their products, which allowed them to slash their prices and meet the needs of this new market.

In this interview, Harvard University Professor Rosabeth Moss Kanter discusses the topic. She literally “wrote the book on it.” She is author of How Vanguard Companies Create Innovation, Profits, Growth, and Social Good.
