France has undergone many social, economic, and political transformations to emerge as the modern France it is today. This course looks at revolutions throughout France, industrialization, and the disruption caused by two world wars. Political responses of parties are also analyzed.
John Merriman is a Professor of History at Yale University. His focus is on European history and he has published numerous papers on the topic. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
