This course introduces the basic principles of chemistry and these principles are applied to engineering systems. Relationships between electronic structure, chemical bonding, and atomic order are discussed, as well as characterization of atomic arrangements in crystalline and amorphous solids.
Professor J. Michael McBride teaches Yales’ Freshman Organic Chemistry course, the first semester in a two-semester set, focused on current theories of structure and mechanism in organic chemistry, their historical development, and their basis in experimental observation. Complete 37 lecture course.
