Outlook on Anxiety Affects Performance Level

Researchers at the University of Chicago have discovered that cortisol, a hormone associated with stress, may affect students differently depending on a student’s frame of mind. The hormone might have negative or positive effects depending on the student’s attitude while going approaching a task. The authors of this study selected failure to perform in math and the connection of math-related anxiety to working memory and the secretion of cortisol, which is often called a “stress hormone.”
