It may seem illogical to say that in the last century with violence like that of Stalin and Hitler, or Darfur and Iraq, that we are living in “the most peaceful times of our species existence.” But that is exactly what Steven Pinker argues.

Pinker is a Harvard Psychology Professor, experimental psychologist, cognitive scientist, linguist, and author. He charts the decline of violence since Biblical times and shown that modernity is not actually the source of terrible violence, but rather a source of peaceful improvement brought on by the age of reason.
